Westminster Presbyterian Church welcomes you! We are a diverse urban congregation serving Jesus Christ in the heart of Portland, Oregon. We come from all parts of the metropolitan area and from a wide range of perspectives, celebrating our unique gifts and finding unity in faith. Our doors are open to all. As a progressive community of believers, we welcome people of every age, race, sexual orientation, and gender identity to worship with us.
October 23 is Jazz Sunday at Westminster! We are excited to welcome our guest composer Darrell Grant and his jazz combo. Mr. Grant is a pianist, composer, and Portland State University professor with multiple successful jazz recordings. A former guest on “Piano Jazz” on NPR, he has toured internationally, appeared in jazz festivals, and performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. We hope you’ll join us at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary on Sunday to hear the beautiful music of Mr. Grant and his ensemble.
The Rev. Laurie Newman is teaching a three-part "Food and Theology" class that encourages participants to experience and reflect on the sacred aspects of food and eating. The remaining classes are October 19 at 7 p.m. and October 22 from 1 to 5 p.m., a "Feast of Friends." We will cook, eat, clean up, and reflect, together. Sign-up is required for the Oct. 22 class. Contact Laurie at the church for more information.
Our new phone system is now active. Please note that our extensions have been updated, so you'll need to add a "1" to any existing extension you normally call (e.g., x 10 becomes 110; x 13 becomes 113). We look forward to talking to you!
