Adult ministry

Adult Fellowship Groups
Westminster sponsors many different kinds of groups where adults may find fellowship. Some of these groups are primarily social, others gather to undertake a particular project or discuss a common concern. We are continuing to develop small group ministries, and interested parties are encouraged to contact Rev. Laurie Vischer. The Adult Education program by contrast focuses on a more academic approach.  See below for a more detailed description.

Adult Education

Sunday mornings prior to worship, enjoy a lively Bible study in the church Gallery "Toothmarks on the Lectionary" (upstairs off the Great Hall) at 9:15 am, year round. Other opportunities are offered focusing on Bible study, ethical issues, global and historical perspectives, and spiritual growth. We have several teachers who are with us on an annual basis including: Dr. Elaine Park from Mt. Angel Seminary; Dr. Carol Dempsey from University of Portland; Dr. Richard Rohrbaugh; and Dr. Rob Kugler from Lewis and Clark. See the Adult Education Class page for current listings. All classes other than the Bible study in the Gallery begin at 9:15 am, and run from mid September through the first week of June.

In addition to Sunday mornings we offer a variety of other opportunities for Christian Nurture throughout the year. These include:

  • Men's Retreat and Women's Retreat- overnight getaways to focus on spiritual growth and life transitions.
  • Sunday evening Bible studies. For information contact the church office.
  • Great Beginnings - marriage preparation classes for engaged couples. Check with the office for scheduled dates.
