A Guideline for Florists

Guidelines for the Florist

The primary use of the Sanctuary is for congregational worship. The principal service is on Sunday morning. Liturgical colors or decorations may be in place at the time of your wedding. They will remain in place. Weddings should be planned accordingly. For example, seasonal flowers or plants and banners during the Easter season. Speak with the officiating pastor about this.

Regarding your decorations, flowers may be placed on shelves behind the communion table or in flower standards on either side of the communion table. We do not put flowers on the communion table, the wooden divider (raredos), piano, organ, lectern or pulpit.

Flower girls may not drop flower petals down the center aisle. All floral decorations should be kept simple and complement Sanctuary décor. Handrails are to be kept free of decoration for safety. Aisle runners are not permitted as they can be a tripping hazzard.

Flower arranging is to be done away from Westminster and delivered up to three hours before wedding time. Flowers may not be delivered the day before the wedding, or during the rehearsal.

Westminster does not have flower stands available. Thumbtacks, nails, pins, florist clay, wire tape and glue may not be used to attach pew bows. Please use only rubber bands, pew clips and ribbon.

There are 25 pews on each side of main aisle of the church, 50 total.

Florists will be required to sign an agreement that they understand and will abide by the guidelines. These must be signed and given to the Wedding Coordinator two weeks prior to the wedding rehearsal.
