Everyone is invited to view Cloisters’ 3rd fine arts show. Over 60 artists working in a variety of mediums and themes, including painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles, metal, printmaking, and photography will take part in this celebration of the gifts of creativity.

Plan to join us for a fun and colorful evening celebrating art, a silent auction, and 2 fabulous tableaux with live models
presenting paintings of Frida Kahlo and Pablo Picasso. The garments will be auctioned during the evening.

THE ART OF COLLECTING ART - Clark Worth
A long-time collector of various types of art, Clark will lead us through the basics of building a collection, how and where to look for art, and how to know if it is a good value for the price.

TEA & TAPESTRIES:  SANCTUARY TOURS AND AFTERNOON TEA – Betty Fry, Westminster Needlepoint Guild
Visit Westminster’s beautiful Sanctuary where a docent will lead you    through row after row of gorgeous needlepoint.  Then stop in and relax with a spot of tea!  No charge, but donations appreciated.

HOW TO LOOK AT  MODERN ART:  I COULD PAINT THAT!! - Caroleigh Robinson 
Have you ever wondered about the “art” in modern art?   A docent at the museum with a specialty in contemporary art, Caroleigh will help us to appreciate what it’s all about.  This event will take place at the Portland Art Museum, where we will meet inside the main entrance at 1pm sharp.  Recommended for adults.  Regular museum admission required.  Thursday, February 25, 1pm, Portland Art Museum

SKETCHING ON THE RUN:  JOURNAL SKETCHING – John Barker
Keeping a journal can be a strict regimen for you, or more of an “on the fly” process.   Either way, John will share tips and techniques for visually recording the sites and sights around you.  Paper and pencil provided, but if you prefer pen and a journal book please bring your own.

THE YING & YANG OF PAINTING – Jack Robinson
John, prolific painter in acrylics and oils, will focus first on the process to create a picture, and finish with techniques to examine and improve the picture you created in step #1, demonstrating with the creation of a work of art.  Paper and pencil will be provided.
