Weddings
Thank you for considering Westminster Presbyterian Church as you plan your wedding. If you should decide to have your wedding here, you will be working with members of our staff who are dedicated to making your wedding a significant and joyous occasion of Christian worship. They each bring special skills and training and will work with you
in planning a wedding which is true to the Christian faith as well as personally meaning to you.
Our Application form is available through a link on this webpage. Once this completed form is received by our Church Administrator, Patricia Holman, the date is checked for availability on the church calendar. If the date is clear, the application form is given to one of our pastors for review. The pastor then contacts the wedding couple to set up a time for an "intake" interview. Once the interview is done, and the couple and pastor agree to proceed, a contract is signed, the $350 deposit is paid, and the date becomes permanent on the church calendar.
Policies and Fees
Here are some facts about us which may assist you in your wedding decisions:
- Westminster and its clergy are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). All weddings are officiated by Westminster pastors.
- Weddings are usually performed on Saturdays: late morning, early or mid afternoon or early evening. We do not hold weddings during the month of December or Easter week. The church is open for your wedding party three hours prior to the ceremony and 90 minutes after.
- On the third Saturday of each month, a Service of Healing and Wholeness is offered to the public. On those Saturdays, a 1:00 pm (or earlier) wedding is available only. No weddings are held on Sundays, New Year’s Day, Palm Sunday through Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving weekend and in December.
- There are 25 rows of pews; the Sanctuary seats 450 comfortably. The building is not air conditioned.
- There is a large church parking lot on the Hancock, across from the building.
- The Sanctuary is wheelchair accessible.
- All fees are due in the church office two weeks before the date of the wedding. If not so paid, we reserve the right to cancel the wedding.
- The wedding package includes a fee for the Sanctuary, Pastor, Organist/Music Coordinator, Wedding Coordinator, and Sound Technician. A $350 deposit is required when a contract is signed.
- For safety and maintenance reasons, we do not allow rice, petals or any other substances to be thrown inside or outside the building.
- Guide lines for florists, photographer and videograhers, and music are on linked pages.
- The use of cigarettes or alcoholic beverages is not permitted in any part of the church. Consumption of alcohol is not permitted anywhere on church grounds.
