Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
An Act of Praise
Introit “I Love You, Lord” Laurie Klein
*Westminster Chimes
*Invitation to Worship Rev. Eileen Parfrey
Our gracious God has created us and called us his own.
Let us worship the triune God.
Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has redeemed our lives.
Let us worship the triune God.
The Holy Spirit sustains and guides us all the days of our lives.
In gratitude and joy, let us worship the triune God!
*Hymn #14 “For the Beauty of the Earth” dix
1 For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies.
Refrain:
Christ, our Lord, to you we raise
this, our hymn of grateful praise.
2 For the wonder of each hour
of the day and of the night,
hill and vale and tree and flower,
sun and moon and stars of light, [Refrain ]
3 For the joy of human love,
brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth, and friends above,
for all gentle thoughts and mild, [Refrain]
4 For yourself, best gift divine,
to the world so freely given,
agent of God’s grand design:
peace on earth and joy in heaven. [Refrain]
*Invitation to Confession Rev. Eileen Parfrey
God calls us, again and again, to turn from all that separates us from the Divine and to return to God’s path. Let us, then, name the ways we have sinned in wandering from God, relying on God’s mercy to forgive and renew us.
*Silent Prayer
*Unison Prayer of Confession
Look deep, loving God, and see us as we really are. We are a people who prefer our will to your will. We focus on things of the self and give little thought or care to others. We wander through our days giving little thought to our own discipleship, let alone our call to help others become disciples. Forgive us, God of grace. Forgive us and set us again on the path of your righteousness. Amen.
*Assurance of Forgiveness
Hear the Good News! While humans can mess things up, the far greater and more fortunate truth is that God created humans to be made whole. And in the life of Jesus Christ, we find that the way towards truth and life is within us and among us.
Know you are forgiven and be at peace. Amen.
*The Passing of the Peace
The peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
An Act of Proclamation
The Scripture Reading 1 Samuel 2: 1-10 (p.245) Rev. Junha Kim
Hannah’s Prayer
Hannah prayed and said,
“My heart exults in the Lord;
my strength is exalted in my God.
My mouth derides my enemies,
because I rejoice in my victory.
“There is no Holy One like the Lord,
no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.
Talk no more so very proudly,
let not arrogance come from your mouth;
for the Lord is a God of knowledge,
and by him actions are weighed.
The bows of the mighty are broken,
but the feeble gird on strength.
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,
but those who were hungry are fat with spoil.
The barren has borne seven,
but she who has many children is forlorn.
The Lord kills and brings to life;
he brings down to Sheol and raises up.
The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
he brings low, he also exalts.
He raises up the poor from the dust;
he lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes
and inherit a seat of honor
For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s,
and on them he has set the world.
“He will guard the feet of his faithful ones,
but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness;
for not by might does one prevail.
The Lord! His adversaries shall be shattered;
the Most High will thunder in heaven.
The Lord will judge the ends of the earth;
he will give strength to his king,
and exalt the power of his anointed.”
This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Anthem “All Things New” Elaine Hagenberg
Light after darkness, gain after loss, strength after weakness, crown after cross:
Sweet after bitter, hope after fears, home after wandering, praise after tears:
Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end, He is making all things new,
Springs of living water shall wash away each tear. He is making all things new.
Sight after mystery, sun after rain, joy after sorrow, peace after pain;
Near after distant, gleam after gloom, love after loneliness, life after tomb.
Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end, He is making all things new,
Springs of living water shall wash away each tear. He is making all things new.

*Hymn #324 “For All the Faithful Women” nyland
For all the faithful women who served in days of old, to you shall thanks be given; to all their story told. They served with strength and gladness in tasks and wisdom gave. To you their lives bore witness, proclaimed your power to save.
We praise your name for Miriam, who sang triumphant while Pharaoh’s vaunted army lay drowned beneath the sea; for Ruth, who left her homeland and ventured forth in faith, who pledged to serve and worship Naomi’s God till death.
We sing of busy Martha, who toiled with pot and pan while Mary sat in silence to hear a word again. We praise the other Mary, who hastened to the tomb and found her Lord arisen, dispelling doubt and gloom.
Lord, hear our praise of Dorcas, who served the sick and poor. Her hands were cups of kindness, her heart an open door. O God, for saints and servants, our fervent prayer we raise, that, faithful in your service, our lives may sing your praise.

Sharing Joys & Concerns Rev. Lindsey Hubbard-Groves
(At the conclusion of spoken joys, let us pray together, “Thanks be to you, O God.”
For concerns, let us make them our own by praying, “Lord, hear our prayer.”)
Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Music given to the Chancel Choir by Dick and Miriam Rohrbaugh in honor of their daughter, Janet Rohrbaugh
Where charity and love are, God is there.
Christ’s love has gathered us into one.
Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him.
Let us fear, and let us love the living God.
And may we love each other with a sincere heart.

*Hymn #625 “O Lord My God” how great thou art
ENGLISH:
1 O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
consider all the worlds thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
thy power throughout the universe displayed:
Refrain:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
2 When through the woods and forest glades I wander
and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
and hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze: [Refrain]
3 And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
sent him to die, I scarce can take it in,
that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
he bled and died to take away my sin: [Refrain]
4 When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
and there proclaim, “My God, how great thou art!” [Refrain]
4 al dulce hogar, al cielo de esplendor;
te adoraré, cantando la grandeza
de tu poder y tu infinito amor. [Estribillo]
