Christmas in July – Food Drive

At Christmastime, donations made to food pantries often increase as people are in the giving spirit. Summer, however, can be a tough time for those experiencing food insecurity. In summer, many children don’t receive the free lunches they receive during the school year, and food banks often run low on supplies. Westminster’s Christmas in July food drive helps local families served by Northeast Emergency Food Program and Mainspring Portland. Can you help to make it feel like Christmas for them? We are looking for nonperishable items in non-glass containers such as snack items, cheese-and-cracker packets, cups of noodles, canned meats such as tuna, peanut butter and jelly, dessert mixes (cake, pies, brownies), pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, and rice. Please bring food donations to the 16th Avenue entrance of the church, to the food drop-off area, before or after church on Sundays or weekdays during church office hours (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) during July. For more information, please contact Beth Outterson or the church office—and have yourself a merry Christmas in July!
