Racial Justice Discussion

Defund the Police or Crack Down on Violent Crime—What Would Jesus Do?
Beginning Sunday, July 11, at 7 p.m., Westminster’s Racial Justice Working Group is offering a series of Zoom discussions to help us process the challenging time that our city and country are living through. In the year since George Floyd was murdered and protests amplified the push for changes in public safety, where are we now? How can we understand what can really be done and how can we help? Chris Dela Cruz will lead our first discussion.

No homework is required, but we strongly recommend you listen to or read two recent interviews—Ezra Klein interviewing James Forman, Jr., for The New York Times  https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/21/podcasts/transcript-ezra-klein-interviews-james-forman-jr.html?referringSource=articleShare and Dave Miller interviewing leaders of Reimagine Oregon for Think Out Loud on OPB https://www.opb.org/article/2021/05/30/reimagine-oregon-project-one-year-later/. The Zoom link will appear in the Westminster Weekly e-news. If you don’t get the e-news and would like to, contact Jonathan in the church office (office@westprespdx.org).
