Socks Drive for Operation Nightwatch

SOCKS DRIVE FOR OPERATION NIGHTWATCH

Westminster’s annual drive to support Operation Nightwatch (ONW) has returned. ONW helps the unhoused community in many ways, from giving new socks to those in need to providing free mental-health services. Financial donations to ONW are appreciated, so we will be collecting online donations at westprespdx.org. Click the “online giving” button, then under the “fund” type, click the dropdown arrow to find and choose the sock drive (it’s at the bottom of the list). To give by check, please put “Socks for ONW” in the check memo line and send your gift to the church. Please give by Feb. 18.

In addition, from Feb. 4 through 18, we will be collecting socks, hats, scarves, and gloves in a bin (marked “Operation Nightwatch”) located at the 16th Avenue (accessible) entrance. Donations should be either new or clean and lightly used. Unlike in prior years, we ask that you do NOT donate sweatshirts or anything other than the listed clothing, per ONW’s request. (Anyone still wishing to donate sweatshirts to an organization serving unsheltered people can contact John Goff for information on where to take them.) Donations of socks, hats, scarves, and gloves will be accepted during the church’s office hours (M.-Th., 9 to 4:30, Fri., 9 to 12) or on the Sundays of the drive, just before or after worship. Use the call button to be buzzed in.

This is the last year the Windjammers Mariners group will host this drive. If you or your group is interested in taking over the drive in future years, please contact Mari Partenheimer. (Need contact info for John or Mari? Please contact the church office.)
