(Welcome to worship today. Bold responses are spoken by the congregation.
Note that an * indicates when all are invited to rise in body or in spirit.)
Prelude
Greetings and Announcements The Rev. Gregg Neel
This is the day the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
An Act of Praise
Introit “Over My Head” trad. African-American
*Westminster Chimes
*Invitation to Worship Frederic Locke
When we are led by the Spirit,
We are guided towards wholeness.
We did not receive the gift of Jesus’ love, to fall back into fear.
The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit
That we are children of God, made siblings through Christ.
May our spirits come together in worship.
*Hymn #289 “On Pentecost They Gathered” munich
*Invitation to Confession Robin Rolfe
We are loved by the Lord who sees us and knows us. Yet, we try to turn our gaze, hide away, and deny our call. We set our sights high, thinking we can earn God’s love. We build walls, thinking that we’re not good enough or that we’re too good for God’s beloved. We close our hearts to God’s voice, thinking that we really are on our own. May we be reminded of God’s relentless love for the world in confession.
*Silent Prayer
*Unison Prayer of Confession
Holy God, you spoke the world into being. You breathe life into each of your children and your love for us overwhelms. Pour your spirit to the ends of the earth, that we may return from exile as your beloved children. May our divisions be healed by your word, your righteousness, and your love.
*Assurance of Forgiveness
Be joyful, friends, for we know that the ways things are, are not the ways things should be. Through Jesus Christ, we have each been called to bring about the joy and love of the way things should be, trusting that the kin-dom of heaven on earth has been made real.
*The Passing of the Peace
The peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
An Act of Proclamation
The Scripture Reading Acts 2:1-21 (page 119) Calvin Bash & Eleanor Hodge
This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Moments with Children The Rev. Lindsey Hubbard-Groves
Anthem “The Times They Are A-Changin’” Bob Dylan; arr. Adam Podd
Come gather ’round people where you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’
And you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’.
Come mothers and fathers throughout the land
And don’t criticize what you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly aging.
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend a hand
For the times they are a-changin’.
The line it is drawn the curse it is cast
The slow one now will later be fast
As the present now will later be past,
The order is rapidly fading.
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’!
Sermon The Rev. Samuel Chung
A Moment for Silent Reflection
An Act of Response
*Hymn #279 “Come, Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove” st. agnes
Sharing Joys & Concerns The Rev. Eileen Parfrey
(At the conclusion of spoken joys, let us pray together, “Thanks be to you, O God.”
For concerns, let us make them our own by praying, “Lord, hear our prayer.”)
Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offertory Anthem The 23rd Psalm Bobby McFerrin
(dedicated to his mother)
This piece was written in 2019 to honor Bobby’s mother, who helped instill his
abiding love of church music and his sustaining faith as he grapples with Parkinson’s.
The Lord is my Shepherd, I have all I need,
She makes me lie down in green meadows,
Beside the still waters, She will lead.
She restores my soul, She rights my wrongs,
She leads me in a path of good things, And fills my heart with songs.
Even though I walk, through a dark and dreary land,
There is nothing that can shake me, She has said,
She won’t forsake me, I’m in Her hand.
She sets a table before me, in the presence of my foes,
She anoints my head with oil, and my cup overflows.
Surely, surely goodness and kindness will follow me,
All the days of my life. And I will dwell in Her house,
Forever, forever and ever.
Glory be to our Mother, and Daughter, And to the Holy of Holies.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen.
*Doxology – Hymn #606
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
-OR-
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heavenly host;
Creator, Christ, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Litany for Ministry and Constitutional Questions
Litany for Ministry Gail Black, Vice Moderator, Northeast
God calls each of us to participate in bringing about the new life and world created to be whole. As the body of Christ, we are called to model the revolutionary love of Jesus Christ, who had to die so that we could learn to love. The ministry of the church is shared by all of God’s people knowing that the restoration to which we are called in Jesus Christ is only fulfilled with one another. Within our common ministry together, some are called by the Spirit for particular work as Teaching Elders, Ministers of the Word and Sacrament.
The call to this ministry has been extended by this congregation, accepted, and approved by the presbytery. Therefore, the Presbytery of the Cascades, by means of this commission, installs the Reverend Junha Kim as a pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church. In his baptism, Junha was clothed with Christ. Ordained to the ministry of Word and Sacrament by the Presbytery of the Cascades, he is now called by God through the voice of the church to minister here.
Questions for the Minister
Questions for the Congregation Janet Patin
Do we, the members of the church, accept Junha as an associate pastor, chosen by God through the voice of this congregation to guide us in the way of Jesus Christ?
We do.
Do we agree to pray for him, encourage him, respect his decisions, and follow as he guides us, serving Jesus Christ who alone is Head of the Church?
We do.
Do we promise to pay him fairly and provide for his welfare as he works among us; to stand by him in trouble and share his joys? Will we listen to what he preaches, welcome his pastoral care, and honor his authority as he seeks to honor and obey Jesus Christ our Lord?
We do and we will.
