*Invitation to Worship                                                                           Rev. Gregg Neel

Out of the depths we call to you, O Lord.

Let your ears hear our supplication.

We wait for you, O God. In your word is our hope.

We wait for you, O Lord, for with you there is mercy.

Come. Let us worship God.

*Hymn #331                 “God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand”                national hymn

God of the ages, whose almighty hand
leads forth in beauty all the starry band
of shining worlds in splendor through the skies,
our grateful songs before thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past.
In this free land by thee our lot is cast.
Be thou our ruler, guardian, guide, and stay:
thy word our law, thy paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,
be thy strong arm our ever sure defense.
Thy true religion in our hearts increase.
Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

Refresh thy people on their toilsome way.
Lead us from night to never-ending day.
Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
and glory, laud, and praise be ever thine.

*Invitation to Confession                                                                     Rev. Gregg Neel

Psalm 130 reminds us that our God is loving and merciful. Let us come before God now, together and then privately and silently, to confess our sin.

*Silent Prayer

*Unison Prayer of Confession                                                            Rev. Gregg Neel

God, we are a busy people. We become preoccupied with the demands of work, our relationships, and our communities. We tend to focus on our own needs and fail to see the needs of those around us. We do that which we should not and fail to do that which we should. We ask for your forgiveness and for your guidance in following the path you have set before us. Hear us now as we humbly come before you, silently and privately, to confess our sin.

*Assurance of Forgiveness

(Psalm 130, The Message)

“If you, God, kept records on wrongdoings, who would stand a chance? As it turns out, forgiveness is your habit, and that’s why you’re worshiped.”

Friends, through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

*The Passing of the Peace

The peace of Christ be with you all.

            And also with you.

An Act of Proclamation

The Scripture Reading                 Romans 8:6-11                                  Rev. Junha Kim

To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law– indeed, it cannot, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

But if Christ is in you, then the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.

This is the Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Moments with Children                                                                     Rev. Eileen Parfrey

Anthem                                               “All My Trials”                              arr. Norman Luboff

Bahamian spiritual

Christina Mata, soloist

If religion was a thing that money could buy,

the rich would live and the poor would die.

All my sorrows, Lord, soon be over.

Too late my brothers (sisters),

Too late but never mind.

All my sorrows, Lord, soon be over.

Now hush little baby, don’t you cry,

You know that man is born to die.

All my sorrows, Lord, soon be over.

Sermon                                             “It’s Giving Life”                                 Rev. Junha Kim

A Moment for Silent Reflection

An Act of Response

*Hymn #286                         “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”                               trentham

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love the way you love,
and do what you would do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until my will is one with yours,
to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with you the perfect life
for all eternity.

Sharing Joys & Concerns                                              Rev. Lindsey Hubbard-Groves

(At the conclusion of spoken joys, let us pray together, “Thanks be to you, O God.”

For concerns, let us make them our own by praying, “Lord, hear our prayer.”)

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer

      Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

      Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

      Give us this day our daily bread;

      and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;

      and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

      For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offertory Anthem       “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”                arr. Dan Forrest

When I survey the wondrous cross

On which the Prince of Glory died,

My richest gain I count but loss,

And poor contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,

Sure in the death of Christ my God;

All the vain things that charm me most,

I sacrifice them to His blood.

See, from His head, His hands, His feet,

Sorrow and love flow mingled down.

Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,

Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine,

That were a present far too small:

Love so amazing, so divine,

Demands my soul, my life, my all.

*Doxology – Hymn #606

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

-OR-

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise God, all creatures here below;

Praise God above, ye heavenly host;

Creator, Christ, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*Hymn #295                                    “Go to the World!”                                        sine nomine

Go to the world! Go into all the earth. Go preach the cross where Christ renews life’s worth, baptizing as the sign of our rebirth.

Go to the world! Go into every place. Go live the word of God’s redeeming grace. Go seek God’s presence in each time and space.

Go to the world! Go struggle, bless, and pray; the nights of tears give way to joyous day. As servant church, you follow Christ’s own way.

Go to the world! Go as the ones I send, for I am with you till the age shall end, when all the hosts of glory cry “Amen!”

*Benediction
