PRELUDE
“Voluntary on the Doxology”  Henry Purcell
“Carillon de Westminster”  Louis Vierne

GREETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS  Rev. Lindsey Hubbard-Groves
This is the day the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

AN ACT OF PRAISE

INTROIT
“Praise, Praise, Praise the Lord!”  trad. African American

*WESTMINSTER CHIMES

*CALL TO WORSHIP  Junha Kim
(from Revelation 21)
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals. They will be God’s people and God will be their God. She will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more.”
And the one who was seated on the throne said,
“See, I am making all things new. Write this, for these words are trustworthy.”
Then he said to me,
“It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end.”
So be it.

*HYMN #503
“Lord, We Have Come at Your Own Invitation”  O QUANTA QUALIA

Lord, we have come at your own invitation,
Chosen by you, to be counted your friends;
Yours is the strength that sustains dedication;
Ours, a commitment we know never ends.

Here, at your table, confirm our intention;
Give it your seal of forgiveness and grace;
Teach us to serve without pride or pretension,
Lord, in your kingdom, whatever our place.

When, at your table, each time of returning,
Vows are renewed and our courage restored,
May we increasingly glory in learning
All that it means to accept you as Lord.

*CALL TO CONFESSION  Junha Kim
As we approach another day, another week, another momentous moment, made up of several smaller seconds, we humble ourselves to unite in saying that we cannot know everything. But we can love one another, first in silent prayer.

*SILENT CONFESSION

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
(from Psalm 24)
The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in Their holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who do not lift up their souls to what is false. They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from the God of their salvation. Such is the company of those who seek God, who seek the face of our God.

*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Lift up your heads and be lifted up, that the God of glory may come in. In Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we are made new.
Alleluia! Amen.

*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE
The peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

AN ACT OF RESPONSE

*HYMN #326
“For All the Saints”  SINE NOMINE
(We will sing verses 1-3, and 5 of the hymn. After verse 1,2, and 3, we will pause, and you are invited to name the saints in your life. You may speak the names aloud where you are, at the microphone in the center aisle, or you may name them silently. You may also write or draw the names or images of remembered saints in the window image on the bulletin cover.)

1. For all the saints who from their labors rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed,
Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia! Alleluia!

2. Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress, and their Might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight;
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light. Alleluia! Alleluia!

3. O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine. Alleluia! Alleluia!

5. From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast,
Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
Singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia! Alleluia!

2 Samuel 23:3-4
He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth,
Even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass
Springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
Alleluia!

THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

THE INVITATION TO THE TABLE  Rev. Eileen Parfrey

GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, O God. We praise you for the faithful of every age, from every race and tongue, from every people and nation, all whom you have gathered together, all who have received your gift of life.

And so in praise we join our voices with the great cloud of witnesses, those we know and don’t know. And we remember those in our community who have gone from us to you, and together name them this day: Al Arboleda, Dick Clippinger, Charlyne Demonnin, Alice Frantz, Jane Marquis, Glenn McCutchen, Winnie Mercer, Barb Olsen, Joyce Snodgrass, Karen Ann Stone, Eric Thomas, Jean Thompson, Sheryl Wiley, Larry Woelfer, Nan Yanity, Carolyn Zelle.

We join our voices to theirs, saying these words:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

You are holy, O God, and blessed is Jesus your Son, the light and life of the world, who freed us from sin, injustice, and death forever.

And now, in faith, we take this bread and this cup and celebrate with joy your gift of life and redemption. Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us, and upon these gifts of bread and cup, that they will become our communion with you and one another. As this bread is Christ’s body for us, send us out to be the body of Christ in the world. And hear us as we are bold to say together the prayer that Jesus taught:

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

WORDS OF INSTITUTION
On the night before the Lord Jesus died, he took bread, and after giving thanks, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat. This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.

In the same way he took the cup, saying: This cup is the new covenant sealed with my life, given for you for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.

RECEIVING THE BREAD AND THE CUP
(Today, the congregation is invited to come forward to receive communion. You will be handed a piece of bread, which you may eat. You will then be handed a cup of juice, which you may drink. As you return to your pew, you may put your cup in the basket. For those unable to come forward, someone will bring you the elements.)

COMMUNION ANTHEM
“Let Us Break Bread Together”  arr. William Hall
Let us break bread together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.
Let us drink wine together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.
Let us praise God together on our knees.
When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION  Rev. Lindsey Hubbard-Groves
O God, number us among your saints, and join us with the faithful of every age, that strengthened by their witness, we may run with perseverance the race that is set before us. Give us strength to serve you faithfully until, with the redeemed of all the ages, we will feast with you at your table in glory. Amen.

*HYMN #394
“Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation”  WESTMINSTER ABBEY

Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone,
Chosen of the Lord and precious, binding all the church in one;
Holy Zion’s help forever, and our confidence alone.

To this temple, where we call you, come, O Lord of hosts, and stay;
Come, with all your loving-kindness; hear your people as we pray,
And your fullest benediction shed within these walls today.

Here bestow on all your servants what they seek from you to gain;
What they gain from you, forever with the blessed to retain;
And hereafter in your glory evermore with you to reign.

Laud and honor to our Father, laud and honor to the Son,
Laud and honor to the Spirit, ever three and ever one:
One in might and one in glory while unending ages run!
