*INVITATION TO WORSHIP (FROM JOB 23) Rev. Lindsey Hubbard-Groves
Oh, that I knew where I might find God,
that I might come to God’s dwelling place!
I would learn what God would answer me
and understand what God would say to me.
My feet have closely followed;
I have kept to the way without turning aside.
I have not departed from the commands;
I have treasured these words more than my daily bread.
*HYMN #834
“Precious Lord, Take My Hand” PRECIOUS LORD
Precious Lord, take my hand; lead me on, help me stand; I am tired, I am weak, I am worn. Through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light; take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.
When my way grows drear, precious Lord, linger near; when my life is almost gone, hear my cry, hear my call, hold my hand lest I fall; take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.
*INVITATION TO CONFESSION Junha Kim
The call to confess our sins is a call to conversation, a call to return again to relationship with God and with each other. May we answer that call in a story, but first in silent prayer.
*SILENT PRAYER
*UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
(from Loretta Pehanich’s “The Rich Young Man and the Look of Love”)
I am a God-fearing man who keeps every commandment. I take for granted going first. I’ve slowly changed my attitude since I asked Jesus what I must do… I am different in a way that unsettles my daily choices. I digress. I told Jesus I had kept all the commandments, and he looked at me with love. Knowing my heart inside and out, knowing my failures better than I admit them to myself, he still looked at me with indescribable love. I want to see that look again.
*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Friends in Christ, know this: the mercy of God is from everlasting to everlasting, and we get to remind each other of this grace – in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
Alleluia! Amen.
*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE
The peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” FAITHFULNESS
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not; thy compassions they fail not.
As thou hast been thou forever wilt be.
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning, new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning, new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow:
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning, new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
SHARING JOYS & CONCERNS Junha Kim
(At the conclusion of spoken joys, let us pray together, “Thanks be to you, O God.”
For concerns, let us make them our own by praying, “Lord, hear our prayer.”)
PASTORAL PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

*HYMN #65
“Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah” CWM RHONDDA
Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but thou art mighty. Hold me with thy powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, heed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.
Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow.
Let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through.
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield;
Be thou still my strength and shield.
When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside.
Death of death, and hell’s destruction, land me safe on Canaan’s side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever give to thee;
I will ever give to thee.
