*INVITATION TO CONFESSION Junha Kim
The beginning of the story of God and God’s people begins with us as very good. And through Jesus, we have been redeemed. But the story turns with our departure from God. To draw nearer to God, let us make our confessions before one another, first in silent prayer.
*SILENT PRAYER
*UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, you created us and you love us. Yet, we come to you today, acknowledging that we have long rebelled against the ways you have called creation to be. We dishonor your earth, your communities, and your peoples, upholding systems of injustice and inequity. We confess that we distance ourselves from you and from one another, wanting to ignore the calls for restoration, and turning our eyes and ears away from oppression. And we confess that we often forget that you have not called us to be reconciled as individuals, but as a community, in deep need of one another, and in deep need of Christ’s saving grace. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Friends, we have the Good News: we are forgiven and reconciled to one another in Christ, invited to unity and wholeness as a community, invited to break down the dividing walls of hostility and usher in the kin-dom of peace.
Thanks be to God.
*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE
The peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING Junha Kim
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, eternal God, creator and ruler of the universe. At your word the earth was made and spun on its course among the planets. Your hand formed us from the dust of the earth and set us among all your creatures to love and serve you. When we were unfaithful to you, you kept faith with us. You spoke of love and justice in the prophets, and in the Word made flesh you lived among us, manifesting your glory.
Jesus died that we might live, and is risen to raise all of your people to new life. Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices to the great cloud of witnesses, where our friends Charlyne Demonnin, Alice Frantz, and Barb Olsen now make their home. We say the words of the eternal song:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed are you, O Creator, and blessed is our Redeemer Jesus Christ, who led us on paths of truth and grace, compassion and justice, hope and peace. Blessed is your Holy Spirit who comes into this bread and this cup, changing these ordinary things into sacred and holy things, the bread of life and cup of salvation. For all these things, we give you thanks. And now hear us as we are bold to say together the prayer that Jesus taught….
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
WORDS OF INSTITUTION Rev. Lindsey Hubbard-Groves
On the night before the Lord Jesus died, he took bread, and after giving thanks, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take, eat. This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.
In the same way he took the cup, saying: This cup is the new covenant sealed with my life, given for you for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.
RECEIVING THE BREAD AND THE CUP
(Today, the congregation is invited to come forward to receive communion. Someone will hand you a piece of bread, which you will eat. You may then move to the next person, who will hand you a cup of juice, which you will drink. As you return to your pew, you may put your cup in the basket. For those unable to come forward, a pastor will bring you the elements.)
COMMUNION MUSIC
“Amazing Grace” early American tune; arr. Ricard Proulx
Gail Gillespie, flute
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come.
‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION (UNISON) Junha Kim
We thank you once again for this meal, this day, this grace. Send us out into your world to be the presence of love and hope to all who despair and fear, that all may have life, and life abundant. Alleluia, alleluia, amen.
