An Act of Praise
*Westminster Chimes
*Invitation to Worship Rev. Junha Kim
(from Psalm 13)
How long, O Lord? Will you forget us forever?
How long will your face remain hidden?
We trust in steadfast love.
How long must we bear pain in our soul, have sorrow in our heart all day long?
How long shall evil be exalted?
We rejoice in a faith unshakable.
Consider and answer us, Lord. Wake us up, or we will sleep through life.
We sing, fellowship, and break bread.
The Lord has dealt bountifully with us.
*Hymn #15 “All Creatures of Our God and King” lasst uns erfreuen
All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia, alleluia!
O brother sun with golden beam,
O sister moon with silver gleam,
sing praises! Alleluia!
O brother wind with clouds and rain,
you nurture gifts of fruit and grain.
Alleluia! Alelluia!
O sister water, flowing clear,
make music for your Lord to hear.
Sing praises! Alleluia!
O brother fire, so warm and bright,
chase off the shadows of the night.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Dear mother earth,
who day by day unfolds such blessings on our way,
sing praises! Alleluia! Alleluia!
All who for love of God forgive,
all who in pain or sorrow grieve,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Christ bears your burdens and your fears;
so, even in the midst of tears, sing praises!
Alleluia!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
*Invitation to Confession Rev. Eileen Parfrey
How long, O Lord? How long until our selfish pursuits lead to Your kin-dom community? How long until our desires to move farther away from danger create safe environments? How long must we bear the news of war, have sorrow in our hearts for the starving and dying children? How long shall it take in Evil’s timeline, until it is time for Good? Consider and answer us, help us confess, listen, and discern what matters to You, first in silence.
*Silent Prayer
*Unison Prayer of Confession
God of flourishing and liberation, You yearn for our thriving, place us in communities and placed communities around us; You provide food and water, shelter and homes, and give purpose to luxuries and riches. But, we continue using individual comforts, fleeting pleasures, and man-made idols as our guides, separating us from the thriving You intend. Continue to re-shape and re-form us to experience Your gift of flourishing and liberation, and may we hold fast onto the truth of the in-breaking kin-dom.
*Assurance of Forgiveness
Friends, over and over again, without ceasing nor judgment, however we show up here or out there, the invitation to a kin-dom way of life is always there.
All we need to do is be.
Thanks be to God.
*The Passing of the Peace
The peace of Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
An Act of Proclamation
The Scripture Reading Jeremiah 28:5-9 Rev. Junha Kim
Then the prophet Jeremiah spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and all the people who were standing in the house of the Lord; and the prophet Jeremiah said, “Amen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord fulfil the words that you have prophesied, and bring back to this place from Babylon the vessels of the house of the Lord, and all the exiles. But listen now to this word that I speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people. The prophets who preceded you and me from ancient times prophesied war, famine, and pestilence against many countries and great kingdoms. As for the prophet who prophesies peace, when the word of that prophet comes true, then it will be known that the Lord has truly sent the prophet.”
Matthew 10:40-42
“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”
This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
