We come to this place of worship,
to encounter the One who has called us here.
This Holy One – our God: is with us in every moment.
God is in our celebrations and joys,
God is in our darkest nights of loneliness.
This Holy God – our God: blesses us and calls us by name.
As night fades before the coming Light,
we meet the One who saves us – even from ourselves.
This God – our Holy God: touches us with the Spirit of hope.

Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,

We pick on our siblings; we argue with our partners; we fight with friends and neighbors – we all live broken lives. We even end up struggling with God, seeking to make God do our bidding. But it is God who can heal our brokenness, God who can reconcile our differences, God who can make us families once again. Let us confess our brokenness together, seeking God’s promised blessing for each of us, as we pray, praying first in silence.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up unto the Lord.
Let us give thanks to our God.
It is right to give thanks and praise.
We give you thanks and praise, O God – for the glory and joy of creation, for the work of reconciliation, for the promise of love eternal, and for those who walk with us. So we offer you the words of a song sung by angels and saints, joining our voices to the great cloud of witnesses as we sing these words:
Blessed are you, O God. Blessed is your Son, Jesus, our host at this table. Blessed is your Spirit, who settles in us and among us, and within these gifts of bread and cup, transforming them, making them sacred, and filling not for our bodies but for our souls. So with gratitude and praise we come to your table, ready to be filled, ready to be sent out, ready to be your people in the world. And now hear us as we are bold to say together the prayer that Jesus taught….

Words of Institution
On the night when Jesus was betrayed, he took the bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said to his friends, “This is my body, broken for you. Take it and eat it.”
In the same way, he took the cup, poured it, blessed it, and said, “This is the new covenant, sealed in my blood for the forgiveness of sin. Drink it, all of you.”
And to this very day, whenever we eat this bread and drink this wine, we are proclaiming the saving life, death, and resurrection of the Christ until he comes again. Come, the table is set; everything is ready.
